West Ham United want to recall Nikola Vlasic, 'bad news' for Torino
West Ham United want to recall Nikola Vlasic from his loan spell at Serie A side Tornio, according to Italian newspaper, Libero.
Calcio Mercato reported (5 January) that Torino were eager to make Vlasic’s move permanent after the 25-year-old impressed during the first half of the season.
However, Libero have suggested (print edition, pg. 30, 25 January) the Hammers are now eager to recall the Croatian to the London Stadium.
“Bad news for Turin: West Ham want Nikola Vlasic back. Ivan Jurić, who regenerated the Croatian attacking midfielder, absolutely disagrees,” they wrote.
Unexpected
Vlasic has been in good form for the Italian side in the first half of the season, but this would still come as a shock if he did move back to the London Stadium. He endured a terrible time in the 2021/22 campaign and it’s hard to see him making an impact in the second half of the season.
Maybe David Moyes believes he can get a tune out of Vlasic and there’s a chance he could return a new player, but it’s certainly a gamble and a risk from the board.
Hopefully recalling the Croatian isn’t a transfer solution from the Hammers. They should be actively looking to improve their attacking options in the remaining days of the window – and there’s still a chance another attack-minded player could arrive.
Gianluca Scamacca is out injured and Michail Antonio has endured a tough campaign – it’s therefore understandable to see why Moyes is potentially keen to add some forward-thinking depth to his squad.

Seems a strange move considering Moyes didn't seem to particularly trust or value him. But as with so many failed transfers I often wonder how much is due to off the field situations which affect the player, which may now be resolved.
Maybe Vlasic and Dawson just didn't get on!

He bought the best player in Russia playing as a no 10.
He played him on the wing and he was average at best.
He's done well in Italy as a ..... no 10.
